1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet

[EDIT – SOLD]

Here is one of those air-cooled 911s you always hear about. This is an 1996 Porsche 993 Cabriolet in Black with a 6-speed manual. Has 117k miles.

From the owner:

CONDITION

-Overall, great. Looks good, runs great. Rims show a little curb rash and there’s a little road rash on the hood. Top runs and looks great. Water still beads on it when wet. The car has never seen the track is 100% stock right down to the cassette player. Fast, drives nice.

-The check engine light comes on often, even though there’s no actual problem with the motor. This has been happening since about 40k miles and has been checked many times. Happy to pass on the explanation I was given by the expert.

-Two very small tears and some wear on the driver’s seat. Otherwise the interior is great.

-The bottom of the driver’s side door has a small bump on the seam – no doubt a little rust coming up from between the seam and the door frame (for those who saw my ad before, this is why I’ve dropped the price on the car).

-Gearbox seal has a very slight leak. Only noticed it when I had the car up on a lift, no actual drips, gearbox oil is full and clean.

-Scratch on the rocker panel in front of the right rear wheel that I haven’t got around to touching up yet.

-New Michelin Pilots with probably about 2k miles on them.

HISTORY

-I’m the 3rd owner. I got it when it had 10k miles on it in 2005 from a guy in NY.

-All service has been done at European Performance Engineering in Natick. Jerry Pellegrino/ex PCA tech guy and his guys Bill and Matt.

-Suspension was redone with Bilsteins at 45k miles

-Valve guides were done around 40k miles

-Clutch was done around 60k miles

-I have most of the receipts

-One accident/2010 – I was parked, a woman backed into me and scratched the hood and bumper. Work was done at Dick’s in Somerville. They were the Rennlist-recommended shop in Boston until they closed a year or two ago. Surface scratches only in the accident, nothing structural. Happy to chase down the accident report if it’s important to you.

-Driven east coast, even occasionally during the winter (ask me about the separate rims/snows if you’re interested), always garaged.

-Hitch is a plate that bolts into the bumper. Removable. I’ve used it for my bike rack.
